The director of the Embassy of Italy Cultural Centre, Andrea Anastasio, praises the trio and calls them “an extraordinary example of cultural synergy,” highlighting the ability of music to bridge cultural divides and bring people together from different backgrounds. Renowned for his poignant trumpet solos and deep musical interpretation, Paolo Fresu infuses the group with a hint of European jazz nouvelle vague. The concert features elements of Brazilian, African, and Indian music, influenced by the varied style and improvisational skills of renowned pianist and composer Rita Marcotulli. Master drummer and global music pioneer Trilok Gurtu, in the meantime, builds a bridge between Western jazz, funk, and other genres and Indian classical traditions.
The tour kicks off with a lesson for music students at Piano Man New Delhi on February 27. The much anticipated live concert will take place at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on February 29, 2024. The remaining shows are scheduled for March 2 at Mumbai’s NCPA and March 3 at Bengaluru’s Prestige Srihari Khoday Centre for Performing Arts.
