08 May 2023, Mumbai: As Indian Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar is scheduled to make his debut in the upcoming animated sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, there will be some regional flair. In the Hindi and Punjabi versions, Shubman Gill will play the Indian Spider-Man, while Karan Soni will provide Pavitr Prabhakar’s voice in the English version. The cricket player expressed his excitement for this new challenge after claiming to have grown up watching the character.
It was stated on Instagram that Shubman would be taking on the persona of the web-slinging superhero. “Shub-Man is now Spider-Man!” announced Shubman and Sony Pictures India. “I’m thrilled to provide my voice for Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian Spider-Man, in Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse. Coming soon: a trailer! Get ready for some web-slinging action!”
The statement was accompanied by a humorous video that had numerous individuals requesting an unidentified Shubman to descend while facing the ceiling. One individual remarks, “Does he think he is Spider-Man? Khud ko Spider-Man samajhta hai.” They are, in fact, holding out for him to enter the recording booth. He lands with the heroic flourish of a superhero and utters the idiom, “With great power comes great responsibility.”
The cricketer received praise from ecstatic fans for his new ambition. A supporter commented, “Another reason to watch this spectacular masterpiece.” Oh, my God! Congratssss!! This is enormous! Too talented, @shubmangill,” a supporter remarked. Another supporter chimed in, “Leaving the mark in every field!”
“I have grown up watching Spider-Man, and he is one of the most relatable superheroes,” said Shubman, a player for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL). ‘Being chosen to voice our Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar, in the Hindi and Punjabi languages for the film, which will feature the Spider-Man from India for the first time on screen, was such an incredible experience for me. I already feel above human. I’m looking forward to the release of the film.”
The movie, which was directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K Thompson, stars Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, and Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, in addition to Shameik Moore as Miles and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy.
English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, and Malayalam are the 10 languages in which Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be theatrically released in India on June 2.
