4th June 2023, Mumbai: Renowned choreographer turned producer Binaiferr Kohli, along with her husband Sanjay Kohli, who transitioned from acting to show making, have established themselves as the creative minds behind numerous successful TV shows, primarily in the comedy genre, under their banner Edit II Productions. While their ongoing shows, “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai” and “Happu Ki Ultan Paltan,” have already garnered tremendous popularity, the duo is now passionately working on their next venture, a project close to their hearts. Binaiferr expresses her contentment with the progress and shares insights into how she balances her bustling personal and professional life, ensuring the well-being of her spouse, children, pets, and the significance of mental health.
Binaiferr firmly believes in the concept of having a single boss, and for her, that is Sanjay Ji. She emphasizes that in case of any difference in opinion, Sanjay Ji’s perspective holds the utmost importance, unless she can convince him otherwise. This clarity simplifies their dynamic and enables them to find a balance. Describing their relationship as love-filled, Binaiferr acknowledges that they have their share of fights and arguments, but ultimately, there exists a profound love and respect between them, which she deems essential. They have become inseparable.Binaiferr draws strength from her son and daughter, considering them as pillars of support.
Whenever she has faced difficulties, her children, along with Sanjay Ji, have been by her side. She mentions that both her son, Vihaan, and daughter, Chayn, provide her with valuable advice. As devoted pet parents to their dog named Zuma, Binaiferr highlights the integral role their four-legged companions play in their lives. Understanding that pets cannot communicate their physical discomfort, she emphasizes the need for special care and attention. Zuma is always in their company, even while moving from one room to another. Binaiferr ensures they engage in regular playtime. She proudly admits that her pet receives constant attention and describes Zuma as the most pampered and indulged pet one could encounter.
When asked whether she has experienced burnout or anxiety due to work stress or the industry’s demands, Binaiferr responds in the negative. Her love for her work serves as a driving force, and she considers herself a workaholic who would willingly work without remuneration. However, she acknowledges experiencing anxiety in situations where her actors or technicians fell ill, during times of curfew or when daily wage earners struggled to find sustenance. Binaiferr also mentions feeling anxious when dealing with unruly actors or instances that disrupt the conducive atmosphere on set for comedy. To overcome these challenges, she maintains discipline and swiftly restores harmony and order.
Binaiferr shares her thoughts on fostering a supportive and mentally healthy work environment for actors and industry professionals. She emphasizes the significance of cultivating a positive work environment, a principle they firmly believe in and implement within their own production. In her team, everyone supports and uplifts one another, except for a few individuals who display selfish behavior. They foster unity, motivation, and assistance for those in need, striving to help those facing difficulties. Binaiferr stresses the importance of treating everyone’s work and respect equally.
