9th October 2023, Mumbai: In a recent event Zeenat Aman talked about her much loved character Roma in a ‘rewind to Don’, Reflecting on her journey into the entertainment world she mentioned Dev Anand as her life long mentor. The event was a collaborative effort by Film heritage foundation and was attended by thousands of cinema lovers.

Zeenat Aman, expressed her journey after “Dum Maro Dum” song. The 1971 hit propelled her into stardom, embodying the bold and free-spirited youth of that era.
Adding to that Zeenat told that how the song still remains fresh in the memory of today’s people and how Dum Maro Dum is still the number one song that came from the studios of Indian Cinema
Furthermore, Zeenat Aman talked about the relationship between her and Dev Anand. She thanked Dev Anand for his mentorship and guidance in the world of cinema. She told that Hare Rama Hare Krishna have opened the doors of stardom for her, And Dev anand played a significant role in shaping her career in the hustling world of Indian film industry.

I was shooting for a movie called ‘Roti Kapda Makaan’, Nariman A Irani was the camera person, and Chandra Barot held the position of chief assistant director. The legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, was part of the project as well. However I was not aware of the behind-the-scenes dynamics and the financial situation of DON.
Furthermore, Zeenat Aman was approached by the team, expressing their plan for the film “Don” and offering a role, Zeenat was ready for the but beyond just singing songs and leaving. She was Excited for her Role as ‘Roma’ accepted the opportunity, trusting Chandra Barot’s assurance of involvement in the action and drama aspects of the project.
