Recalling those trying times, Vidya candidly shared her ordeal, stating, “I was kicked out of 13 films.” The actress revealed the harsh treatment she endured after being replaced in a film, emphasizing how it affected her self-esteem. “They made me feel so ugly that for six months, I could not gather the courage to look at myself in the mirror.”

Notably, she had signed two films with the acclaimed director K Balachander during this period. Reflecting on the experience, Vidya shared, “I could sense something was wrong because we were supposed to go to New Zealand for the shoot but they hadn’t even asked for my passport.” The shocking revelation unfolded when Vidya’s mother contacted Balachander’s daughter, learning about her unceremonious replacement.

Expressing her emotional turmoil during those challenging years, Vidya revealed an incident where she learned about being replaced and found solace in walking. “I realised I had been walking for hours. I cried a lot. Those memories are hazy now but whatever I touched in those three years turned useless.” It sheds light on the toll these rejections took on Vidya’s mental and emotional well-being.
