Rishi Kapoor was never afraid to speak his mind. He always expressed his mind and freely acknowledged his shortcomings. The ‘Bobby’ star spoke in a number of interviews about his dreary upbringing. In a particular interview, he spoke about buying a prize that he dreaded losing to his peers.
Everyone anticipated the tall, dark, and beautiful gentleman, Amitabh Bachchan, to triumph over the black woman, but Rishi Kapoor won best actor for “Bobby,” according to sources. The late actor then acknowledged getting that award. Check out the amazing tale below.
One of his contemporaries was Amitabh Bachchan. In 1973, both actors received Best Actor nominations. One made his acting debut in “Bobby,” while the other made his breakthrough in “Zanjeer” as the Angry Young Man.
The actor from “The Kapoor & Sons” revealed a relationship between his manager and the awards committee in his autobiography, “Khullam Khulla.” I was between 20 and 21 years old. After “Bobby,” I suddenly became a major star. Really, I was a brat. I was a pilot back then. Someone approached me and said, “We can win this prize… Do you want it, please? So I replied, “Sure.” Someone stated that it will cost Rs 30,000… Back then, it was very lucrative. Who knows, perhaps the organisers would have never received the funds. I don’t know if the guys received the money I just provided to a man.”
Actor of “Prem Rog” believes he might have triumphed without funding. He might have triumphed without spending any cash. He regrets corruption anyway.
After receiving the award, Rishi Kapoor rose to fame as a national hero. Amitabh Bachchan’s action films and Angry Young Man persona transformed Hindi cinema, although it was only for a brief period of time.
