Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sharma’s evergreen movie Wake Up Sid is being talked about for a sequel. The mesmerizing pair of Sid and Aisha might be coming back to entertain us again soon. The 2009 film was a hit and gained a lot of appreciation from the audience. The sequel to the movie became a headline after a video that surfaced on social media became viral. The video included the cast of the movie Ranbir Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma, Namit Das, and Shikha Talsania. The film was directed by Ayan Mukerji, it also starred Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak in supporting roles
The film received a lot of accolades, especially by the youth as it brought out a story that was very close to reality. The story depicted the struggles, confusion, and pain of youngsters trying to find a way into the world. The duo of Ranbir and Konkona also made it the perfect romcom. The story was about a college student Siddharth, played by Ranbir Kapoor, who navigates his way through adulthood and finds a way to become independent after living as a rich kid at home. The story revolves around Ranbir’s character going through a major transformation in his life and finding a friend and lover in Aisha.
Will the sequel become a reality?
The speculations began with a video of Ranbir and Konkana which included them in their same looks as the film, with Ranbir sporting a blue shirt and white pants while Konkana Sen wearing a white Kurta and denim paired with a dupatta. The question “Is the gang coming back?’ was written on the video. This made it look as if they were shooting a scene for part 2 of the film. The video also included Sid’s friends and supporting cast in the film thus adding fuel to the speculations. The video was released on 2nd January. However, Karan Johar clarified that it was an advertisement after sharing a snippet from the same shoot as many assumed that it was for the ‘Wake Up Sid’ sequel.
If the speculations would have been anywhere true then it would have been pleasing to see one of the favorite pairings to comeback on the big screen and for the director to play another perfect coming off age Bollywood movie. The fans would truly love the sequel as well and it would do wonders for the newer generation to get to see more down-to-earth and simple movies in the day and age of Massey and sci-fi films.
