Today is the 68th Filmfare Awards ceremony. One of the films with many nominations is The Kashmir Files. There are seven nominations in all for it. One of the biggest hits of 2022 was the film, which tells the gripping and terrible story of the extermination of Hindus in the Kashmir Valley. At the Indian box office, it brought in more than Rs 250 crore. A $14 million budget was used to produce The Kashmir Files. According to a tweet by Vivek Agnihotri, he won’t be attending the Filmfare Awards. Abhishek Agarwal, the film’s producer, has now denounced it as unjust. Take a peek at the producer’s tweets.
The way the Filmfare Awards handle directors, writers, and other staff workers, according to Vivek Agnihotri, is immoral. They just care about the stars, he claimed. He tweeted that, “I refuse to be part of any oppressive and corrupt system or awards which treats writers, directors and other HODs & crew members of a film inferior to and/or as slaves to stars. My congratulations to all those who win and more to those who do not. The brighter side is that I am not alone. Slowly but steadily, a parallel Hindi film industry is emerging. Until then…”
Additionally, Gulshan Devaiah tweeted in support of Vivek Agnihotri. He appeared to be receiving updates on the situation via Whatsapp. He tweeted about being informed about the situation in this manner.
We must wait and see if The Kashmir Files wins any honours. The film received a great deal of praise in some overseas countries as well. While, some had compared it to India’s Schindler’s List.
