27 October 2023, Mumbai: The film ‘Ganapath,’ featuring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, is facing a challenging time at the box office. Despite the star power of the lead actors, the film has failed to make a significant impact in terms of earnings. Its total collection stands at a mere Rs 11 crore. This post-apocalyptic dystopian action movie hit theaters on October 20, but it seems to have found few takers among moviegoers.
A Diminishing Box Office Opening
In a notable contrast to their successful debut in ‘Heropanti’ back in 2014, Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon’s latest venture, ‘Ganapath,’ has not fared well. The film showcases Tiger Shroff in the role of an ‘immortal’ mercenary set in a futuristic backdrop, with Amitabh Bachchan playing his grandfather. Kriti Sanon is also featured in action-packed sequences. Unfortunately, this new release has failed to capture the audience’s attention, resulting in a disappointing opening at the box office.
Struggling to Make an Impact
Despite the promise of an action-packed narrative and notable star cast, ‘Ganapath’ is grappling with lukewarm reviews from both critics and audiences. The film’s collection in India on its opening day was a meager Rs 2.50 crore, marking Tiger Shroff’s lowest opening in his career. The film’s performance has shown no signs of improvement, and on its seventh day, which was October 26, the film’s collection reached a mere Rs 1 crore, according to early trade estimates.
Plot of ‘Ganapath’
In ‘Ganapath,’ the audience is introduced to Ganapath, also known as Guddu, portrayed by Tiger Shroff. In the initial part of the film, he is unaware of his destined role. However, as the story unfolds, Guddu transforms into Ganapath, a hero for the underprivileged. Throughout his journey, he discovers love and finds a partner in Jassie, played by Kriti Sanon. Jassie is a skilled martial artist capable of taking on a group of formidable opponents.
A Notable Reunion Of Tiger and Kriti
One of the film’s highlights was the reunion of Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, who had initially made their Bollywood debut together in the 2014 film ‘Heropanti.’ Their on-screen chemistry in their first film garnered praise, but unfortunately, ‘Ganapath’ failed to replicate that success, leaving the audience and industry observers surprised by its lackluster performance at the box office.
