6th May 2023 Mumbai: The team behind The Kerala Story, which also includes Vipul Shah, Sudipto Sen, and Adah Sharma, has received a warning from Vivek Agnihotri. Their lives won’t be the same, Vivek tweeted.
The Kerala Story team has received a lengthy cautionary letter from The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri. He warned the Kerala story team of ‘unimaginable hate’ after recalling being ‘physically, professionally assaulted’ for The Kashmir Files. Vivek wrote a lengthy statement on his Twitter account informing the film’s producer Vipul Shah, the director Sudipto Sen, and the actor Adah Sharma that their lives going forward “will not be the same.” They will “receive unimaginable hate, feel suffocated, become confused, and become demoralised,” he said.
Cinema AND Indian Renaissance: The Kerala Story,” read Vivek Agnihotri’s tweet. I learned early on from great filmmakers and film reviewers that the sole aim of art is to cause viewers to reflect on their own prejudices and preconceptions. I was also taught as a child that films depict society as it really is. I was taught that cinema needed to make new Gods and kill old Gods.
Additionally, he stated, “I have realised that in contemporary times, cinema has the ability to do what journalism and politics cannot. It may fight the culture war, revise history, present uncomfortable realities, and serve as a nation’s soft power for the sake of broader interests. Making such films is difficult in India. I tested it with The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files, and Buddha in a Traffic Jam. I have had assaults on my physical, professional, social, and psychological well-being.
Even The Vaccine War, a film I’ll be releasing soon that celebrates India’s greatest accomplishment, is often criticised. Primarily by the same instructors that taught me everything above. They won’t assault it with the same design when it comes out later this year because they don’t want India to be successful. Because the Truth cannot be said. Bharat should not be honoured, the filmmaker continued.
Vivek went on to discuss “enemies of truth,” “justice,” and “dharma.” “Dear Vipul Shah and @sudiptoSENtlm, @adah_sharma and team of #TheKeralaStory, let me first applaud you for the courageous endeavour. Let me also tell you that from this point on, your lives will not be the same. You’ll encounter unspeakable hatred. You’ll experience suffocation. You can often feel lost and discouraged. But keep in mind that God examines the shoulders on which he might place the burden of acting as change agents,” he tweeted.
