Suniel Shetty, the renowned actor and restaurateur, recently voiced his distress about the soaring prices of tomatoes. In a recent interview , he revealed that the rising costs have compelled him to compromise on purchasing this essential ingredient. Suniel shared that he and his wife, Mana, prefer buying fresh vegetables for one or two days at a time. However, the skyrocketing tomato prices have begun to impact their kitchen, resulting in reduced consumption of tomatoes. Contrary to popular belief, even superstars like him have to face such challenges in their daily lives.
The Challenge of Rising Tomato Prices
Suniel Shetty shed light on his decision to buy fruits and vegetables through an app, raising concerns about the escalating tomato prices. He emphasized that the prices offered by these apps are surprisingly lower compared to traditional shops and markets. Being a restaurateur himself, he always bargains for the best prices but finds it increasingly difficult due to the exorbitant costs of tomatoes. Currently, tomato prices in the retail market range between ₹120 and ₹150 per kg, a drastic increase compared to the ₹10 per kg price in the first week of May.
