1st June 2023,Mumbai: There have been calls for a censorship system to be implemented in the OTT market for the past few months to stop abusive language and obscenities in shows and films. Suniel Shetty, an actress, disagrees with the notion and claims that it is difficult to decide what should be censored and what should not.
The actor believes that everyone should be morally responsible when creating content. He is currently actively navigating the web world with shows like Dharavi Bank and Hunter – Tootega Nahi, Todega.“
Everything has a very fine line in today’s environment. For instance, it’s unfair if you use the lack of censorship in the area to sell rubbish. Limitations when it comes to age and content should very much be there,” Shetty tells us.
The actor continues, “If it’s excessive, if it hurts someone, an individual, a religion, or anything, or if it causes a general disruption in the environment, then it’s not fair. You must uphold moral principles. Since there is a market for it, I wouldn’t participate in it or show it.”
“Let’s go on the bandwagon: I don’t think that good sells and that only evil sells. Because of social media, that is where we are going wrong. Who are these individuals who are torturing me without cause or rhyme? They lack an identity and have five followers. We must concede it. Each decade has its own unique set of issues. That being said, censorship is a very difficult process today. What do you censor? What don’t? So, you have to be morally responsible”.
The 61-year-old speaks candidly on having moral responsibility, stating, “We come from a culture where family counts a lot, and so does society, from a perspective of not wanting to harm anybody. It is really important. As actors, producers, and creators, we need to be aware of this.”
The actor’s work schedule comprises a variety of tasks, some of them are related to sports and health.“I’m engaged in a number of fascinating activities. I also finished another movie on the internet. While I am enthusiastic about the projects, I am not going overboard. As I choose the assignments, I am considering everything from my standpoint as well as from an age perspective.”
