22 September 2023, Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan’s latest action-packed venture, “Jawan,” has not just taken the box office by storm but is rewriting the records in record time. As it enters its third week of release, the film continues to dominate the box office, cementing its position as the second-highest-grossing movie of the year, right behind Khan’s own “Pathaan.”
Jawan Box Office Collection
On its 15th day in theaters, “Jawan” raked in an impressive Rs 8.85 crore, propelling its total collection to a staggering Rs 526.73 crore. This remarkable feat places it ahead of Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2,” which earned Rs 521.15 crore over a span of 41 days. “Jawan” managed to achieve this milestone with a 14.94% occupancy rate in the Hindi market on Thursday. In the Telugu-speaking states, the film performed even better with a 15.59% occupancy, while in the Tamil market, it maintained a respectable 14.94% occupancy.
Jawan’s Crushing Milestones
What sets “Jawan” apart is not just its remarkable earnings but the breakneck speed at which it has shattered records. The film has effortlessly entered the coveted Rs 100 crore, 200 crore, 300 crore, 400 crore, and 500 crore clubs, marking it as the fastest entrant into these milestones. To put this into perspective, by the end of its second week, Shah Rukh Khan’s previous release, “Pathaan,” had amassed Rs 458.9 crore, trailing “Jawan” by a significant Rs 67.83 crore during the same time frame. Currently, “Jawan” is merely Rs 16.32 crore away from surpassing “Pathaan’s” lifetime collection in the domestic market, a feat that seems inevitable given its consistent performance. Globally, the film has soared to an astonishing Rs 907.54 crore, as reported by the production company, Red Chillies Entertainment.
Jawan To Cut Across competitions
The spectacular success of “Jawan” has injected a renewed sense of optimism into the Indian film industry. Recent releases such as “Gadar 2,” “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” and “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” have all contributed to the resurgence of cinema attendance. Salman Khan, one of Bollywood’s leading actors, has boldly predicted that the new norm for the movie business in Northern India is the Rs 500 crore mark. He stated, “I feel this Rs 100 crore mark is going to be the rock bottom now. Everything is going to be Rs 400-500-600 crore plus,” highlighting the evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
