6 January 2024, Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film, Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, has completed a successful two weeks in theaters. According to the industry tracking website Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 2.20 crore on Friday, bringing its total India nett earnings to Rs 208.67 crore. The global box office collection, reported by the film’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, stands at Rs 422.99 crore. This places Dunki as Shah Rukh Khan’s third-biggest hit, following Jawan and Pathaan. Notably, all three films were released in 2023.
Dunki Box Office Collection Day 16
The movie, featuring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, continues to perform well at the box office. However, it falls short of matching the lifetime box office performance of Rajkumar Hirani’s previous films, such as Sanju (2017) starring Ranbir Kapoor, which earned Rs 588 crore worldwide, and PK (2014) featuring Aamir Khan, with a total gross of Rs 769.89 crore.
Rajkumar Hirani’s List Of Blockbuster
While Dunki faces challenges in crossing the Rs 500 crore mark at the global box office, with two new films set to release this month, SRK’s remarkable comeback to the big screen with Pathaan and Jawan has solidified his position in the Hindi film industry. It’s worth noting that the last Rajkumar Hirani film to earn under Rs 500 crore worldwide was 3 Idiots in 2009.
Dunki VS Merry Christmas VS Fighter
Despite Dunki’s impressive performance, the upcoming releases of Merry Christmas (January 12) starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, and Fighter (January 25) starring Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan, pose challenges for the film’s continued success.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Comeback
Shah Rukh Khan, who has not yet announced his next project, is rumored to make a prolonged cameo appearance in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film, which stars his daughter, Suhana Khan. SRK’s Return to the Silver Screen is backed by his Devoted Fans, making him one of the leading actors in the history of Bollywood.
