The unveiling of the latest poster has ignited immense excitement among fans, evident from their anticipation for the movie. One comment on the post read, “You have transformed yourself completely! Sam Manekshaw, an exceptionally courageous and esteemed army officer in India, earned his reputation through a remarkable four-decade-long career in the Indian Army. He received the highest honors from the Government of India, reflecting his outstanding contributions. Throughout his challenging military journey, Sam experienced numerous well-deserved promotions, thanks to his unwavering commitment, intelligence, dedication, and confidence.
His given name was Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw. He earned the nickname ‘Sam Bahadur’ during a visit to a Gorkha unit, where an orderly referred to him as ‘Sam Bahadur.’ Following this incident, he became widely known as Sam Bahadur among all.
Sam’s father, Hormusji Manekshaw, had a distinguished military background as well. He served in the British Indian Army during the First World War, holding the rank of captain in the Indian Medical Services.
In October 1932, Sam Manekshaw joined the inaugural batch of cadets at a military academy in India, a program recommended by Field Marshal Sir Philip Chetwood. This initiative aimed to train Indians for officer commissions in the army, and the first batch was famously named ‘the Pioneers’.
