9th July 2023,Mumbai: Saira Banu, a seasoned actor, published a black-and-white portrait of herself on Instagram on Sunday as she took a trip down memory lane. She just signed up for the photo-sharing app. In her most recent post, she recalls the time when the actor sported a “22-inch waistline.” In the image, Saira Banu appeared younger and was dressed in a salwar kameez. The image brings back memories of Saira, who controlled the Hindi films of the 1960s and early 1970s at a young age, posing with her perpetual smile and her characteristic cosmetics appearance. The veteran captioned the image on social media, “The 22 inch waistline in days long ago…Oh! Alas, only if time stayed still.”
Saira’s followers quickly reminded her of how stunning she still looked even after sharing the image. “Ma’am God has created you in a way that you have been beautiful at every age and every size,” one of them said. “We love you and the entire universe loves you.” Another person commented, “U still look good by the grace of Allah.” “So what mam if ur waist is not 22 u r still charming,” someone said.Saira Banu is the child of director Mian Ehsan-ul-Haq and actor Naseem Banu. In 1960, she joined the field at the age of barely 16. In the 1961 movie Junglee, starring Shammi Kapoor, she made her acting debut in Hindi films. She collaborated with Rajendra Kumar on Jhuk Gaya Aasman and Aayi Milan Ki Bela, as well as April Fool and Shagird with Joy Mukherjee, Aao Pyaar Karen and Shagird with Dev Anand, and Pyar Mohabbat with Biswajeet.
On October 11, 1966, Saira Banu wed the late actor Dilip Kumar. When they got married, she was 22 and Dilip was 44 years old. They didn’t have any kids.
In 2021, Dilip Kumar passed away after a protracted illness. On the most recent anniversary of his passing, Saira made her Instagram debut. “I am writing this note on the 7th of July to especially express my gratitude to the overwhelming multitude of caring well-wishers and dearest friends from all over the world who have so tremendously swept me off my feet to this day with their everlasting remembrance, love and respect for my Kohinoor, Dilip Kumar Sahib,” Saira wrote alongside a photo of the two of them. Time stopped on this day, July 7th, at 7 a.m., and my loved one fell into a deep sleep.”
