16th August 2023, Mumbai: Gadar 2 has been making waves at the box office, but one review in particular has emerged as an unexpected source of amusement. Sanchit Pulani, an Instagram user, decided to share his comical observations about the Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer film, leaving viewers in splits.
‘The Sanchit Review’ of Gadar 2
In his deadpan style, Sanchit introduced his review by stating that he had just watched the movie, deeming it an “acchi movie” (good movie). But it’s his subsequent comments that really tickled the funny bone. Taking a playful dig at the storyline, Sanchit remarked, “Baaki mujhe lagta tha is movie mein Tara Sakeena ko waapis chorne jayega, pareshaan hoggaya hoga itne saalon mein” (I thought Tara would finally send Sakeena back to Pakistan in this movie; he must have been fed up after all these years). His wry humor laid the foundation for his unique take on the film.
Hindustan Jindabad and Reverse Love Jihad in Frame
Sanchit proceeded to highlight a rather intriguing twist in the narrative: a “reverse Love Jihad.” He pointed out that despite Tara and his son Jeete constantly chanting “Hindustan Zindabad” (Long live India) throughout the film, they have a peculiar preference for Pakistani women. His ironic observation added a layer of satire to the movie’s patriotic themes.
Sunny Deol’s oft-repeated dialogue, “Jeete!”
The review took a hilarious turn as Sanchit turned his attention to Jeete (played by Utkarsh Sharma), who experiences a bizarre ordeal. In the first part, Jeete gets slapped for expressing his desire to go to Pakistan. In the sequel, he gets slapped again, this time for stating that he won’t go to Pakistan. Sanchit playfully dubbed Sunny Deol’s oft-repeated dialogue, “Jeete!”, as his personal favorite, humorously implying that its frequent use became comical.
Pakistan going through Electricity Fluctuations
Further adding to the whimsicality, Sanchit noted the curious pattern of Tara Singh’s actions. In the previous Gadar film, Tara had uprooted a hand pump, and in this installment, he takes on an electric pole. Sanchit humorously mused, “Now, Pakistan is going through water as well as electric scarcity issues.” This absurd yet amusing observation played on the over-the-top actions often seen in Bollywood films. Sanchit’s review didn’t stop there; he amusingly tallied India’s victories against Pakistan, attributing three wins to the Indian Army and two to Tara Singh himself. This playful take on the film’s narrative dynamics brought a fresh perspective to the story’s portrayal of heroism and patriotism.
Gadar 2 Box Office Collections
Amidst the laughter, it’s noteworthy that Gadar 2 has maintained a triumphant run at the box office, crossing the ₹200 crore mark in domestic collections. The film, directed by Anil Sharma, is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Sunny Deol’s reprisal of his iconic role of Tara Singh has resonated well with audiences, reaffirming his status as a beloved action star. The film’s release on August 11th marked its triumphant return to the silver screen.
