20th February,2024, Mumbai: Currently serving as senior VP Group at Atrangii, Nivedita Basu has produced numerous successful small-scale and digital series. Additionally, Nivedita has worked closely with producer Ekta Kapoor on a number of significant productions, including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. She claims that the greatest instructor she has had is her journey.
Navigating Negativity in the Business
“I believe that producing requires a great deal of resilience. You cannot let the negativity around you get to you and become a part of it. You must conserve your energy so that you may continue your efforts in spite of setbacks. Being in this sector means adhering to this mantra. I’ve always provided more than was required for my job. In fact, I think you should always put in extra effort to get known so that people realise you’re not only in this for the money; you should be here for growth as well,” she says.
Nevedita’s Learning from Balaji and Ekta Kapoor
“It was really fortuitous that I got to work with Balaji,” she continues, “because I talk to so many young people. That’s all I have to say: Balaji wasn’t always Balaji! It wasn’t Balaji when I first started working with Ekta; rather, it was Jitendra ji’s daughter attempting something novel. It was difficult, but it was also fantastic. But I am incredibly appreciative that I was able to learn so much back then because of Ekta’s mentoring.
Diverse Career Paths for Today’s Youth
According to Nivedita, the possibilities available to today’s youth while selecting a career are numerous. “Seeing how many different profession alternatives are available for kids today is definitely refreshing. I recall that we used to be asked if we wanted to be doctors or engineers. In fact, my father got me enrolled in a course on advertising and film promotion when I attended DCSC, and I saw that as a win-win situation in and of itself. I refused to enrol in the required courses,” she declares.
Nevedita’s Thriving in Competitive Environments
“Yeah, I do acknowledge that competition has increased significantly,” she continues. To thrive in any field, whether it is hospitality or media, you have to be better than the best. Aside from this, you must constantly update and hone your talent and craft. The market will only become aware of you and use your services at that point. She continues, “Definitely, I would say that destiny plays a lot of work where you land up at what time. You need to have luck on your side too.” Those with few responsibilities and connections may be lucky. You should keep pursuing it, but it’s all written up there and determined by fate.
