Poonam Pandey Supports Govinda, Tells Sunita Ahuja - ‘Gaali Mat Do Itne Achhe Pati Dev Mile Tumko…’

Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have been making headlines amid public discussions about their marriage. Amid the ongoing controversy, Poonam Pandey has now come out in support of the actor and defended him during a recent media interaction.

Poonam, who worked with Govinda in Aa Gaya Hero, was asked about Sunita’s comments at an event on Wednesday night. She firmly backed Govinda and questioned the criticism directed at him.

When asked about Sunita, Poonam said, "Gaali mat do yaar. Itne achche pati dev mile hai, tumko Govinda mila hai. Kya baat kar rahe ho? Pehle se nahi pata tha kya ke woh itne bade star hai? (Don't abuse. You've got such a wonderful husband; you've got Govinda. What are you talking about? Didn't you know he was such a big star before?)"

Poonam was then asked whether she would support Govinda amid the controversy. The actress made her stance clear and said, "I will support Govinda, sir. 100 percent support karungi. Main toh unhi ko karungi, jo gaali de raha hai, unko thodi na karungi (I will support him 100 percent. I will only support him, not the one who is abusing)."

When the paparazzo mentioned Sunita’s complaint about Govinda allegedly roaming with another woman, Poonam dismissed the claim. She said, "Yeh kuch bhi hai. Peeth peeche thodina ghum rahe the; airport pe the (Anything she says. He was not roaming behind her back; he was at the airport)."

On Wednesday, Sunita was spotted outside a family court in Mumbai with her son Yashvardhan Ahuja. Her appearance led to speculation online that she and Govinda could be heading for divorce.

Govinda’s manager later clarified that Sunita had previously filed for divorce but visited the court to withdraw the case. Sunita has not publicly commented on the matter so far.

Several videos of Sunita outside the court surfaced on social media. However, she did not disclose why she had visited the court.

Speaking to NDTV, Sinha said he was relieved that the proceedings had been withdrawn. However, he questioned why the matter had reached court in the first place. He said the couple’s differences had been discussed publicly for nearly one-and-a-half to two years, which he felt had unnecessarily affected the family’s image.

He said, "Zarurat nahi thi jaane ki. Ghar ki baatein ghar mein reh ke, baith ke baatein karke, bahut sab cheezein hoti hain. Aaj wapas lena tha, to kiya kyun tha? Ye baat ka mujhe dukh ho gaya. Kahe ko phir tamaasha hum log ban gaye (There was no need for people to know about it. Matters concerning the family could have been discussed and resolved privately, within the home. Govinda and Sunita Ahuja married on March 11, 1987. The couple has now been married for 39 years.
