27th March, Mumbai: Kunal Kemmu’s upcoming comedy-drama ‘Kanjoos Makhichoos’ to have its world digital premiere on March 24, 2023, exclusively on ZEE5 Global. The film, directed by Vipul Mehta, promises to be a perfect blend of drama, comedy, and entertainment, featuring an ensemble cast of Kunal Kemmu, Shweta Tripathi, Piyush Mishra, Alka Amin, Rajiv Gupta, and the late Raju Srivastav in important roles. The official trailer for the film was released on March 13, 2023, building excitement among audiences.
Filming for ‘Kanjoos Makhichoos’ commenced on September 10, 2021, which coincided with the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, and wrapped up on October 15, 2021, in time for the celebration of Dussehra. The movie’s primary filming locations were in Rishikesh and Lucknow.
In ‘Kanjoos Makhichoos’, the central character is Jamuna Prasad Pandey, a notorious miser portrayed by Kunal Khemu. The story revolves around his family, including his wife Madhuri (played by Shweta Tripathi), son Krish, and parents Gangaprasad Pandey (Piyush Mishra) and Saraswati Pandey (Alka Amin), who have grown tired of his penny-pinching ways. Jamuna is so tight-fisted that he goes to great lengths to avoid wasting even a single rupee, from rationing out one bucket per person for bathing to using a single agarbatti for an entire month. Later in the film, Jamuna Prasad’s family discovers that he had been saving up money to send his parents on a pilgrimage. However, when his parents go missing, and the government announces compensation for their family, Jamuna Prasad becomes angry when he learns that the middlemen have embezzled a part of the compensation. Frustrated by the injustice, he decides to rebel against the corrupt system
