1st May 2023, Mumbai : The upcoming comedy-drama “Kathal,” written by Ashok Mishra and directed by Yashowardhan Mishra, stars Sanya Malhotra and is ready for release. The movie is based on a true tale about two jackfruits that mysteriously vanish from a politician’s garden and how a determined cop’s search for the truth causes her inquiry to take an unexpected turn. This Netflix comedy also stars Anant V Joshi, Vijay Raaz, and Rajpal Yadav in addition to Sanya Malhotra.
Interestingly, Sanya enjoys jackfruit and playfully said that perhaps after eating it for so long, she must have “manifested” it, making her employment in the movie “Kathal” a match made in heaven.
Talking about her experience, Sanya shared, “For me, it was a master class in acting as it was very difficult for me to catch the dialect. Moreover, I had never done a female-led comedy previously and there I was in front of such senior actors. So, I made sure that I was well-prepared with the script before I went in front of them.”
“I had done scripts in Haryanvi, for the movie ‘Patakha’ also there was a different dialect, so I was confident that I will be able to catch the dialect properly, but on the first day of the shoot, I realized that it was not sounding the way I want my character to sound like. But, Neha was there, who is from MP, and she could speak that dialect beautifully. So she used to talk to me in that manner and gradually, I got used to it.”, Sanya further went on to share.
Sanya also discussed her interactions with the renowned actor Rajpal Yadav. She said, “I am such a big fan girl, so I wondered how can I let people know that I have done a script reading session with Rajpal Yadav over a Zoom call, and also that I am doing a comedy film with him. So, I kept my phone at the side and recorded some snippets to show my parents that I have done a script reading with Rajpal Yadav.”
On May 19, the eagerly anticipated film “Kathal” is scheduled for release. In addition to the film “Kathal,” Sanya will also appear in the films “Jawan” and “Sam Bahadur.”
