30th October 2023, Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut’s latest action-packed venture, “Tejas,” has unfortunately found itself in the league of her box office disappointments. The film failed to breach the Rs 4 crore mark during its opening weekend, marking another setback in Kangana’s recent string of underperforming films.
A Disappointing Opening Weekend
“Tejas” struggled to make a significant impact at the box office during its first weekend in theaters. On the third day of its release, the film did not witness any notable improvement in its box office figures, managing to collect just Rs 1.3 crore, the same amount it earned on the previous day. Even on its release day, the film could not garner much attention, merely raking in Rs 1.25 crore, a far cry from its reported hefty budget of Rs 60 crore.
Low Occupancy and Weak Prospects
The film’s performance on Sunday reflected its tough journey. “Tejas” recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of just 8.37 percent. During the morning shows, the film managed to attract a mere 5.80 percent occupancy in the Hindi market. As the day progressed, there was a slight but insignificant increase, with an 8.79 percent occupancy during the afternoon showings and 10.94 percent for the evening shows. However, it dipped considerably to 7.96 percent during night screenings.
A Grim Outlook
Unfortunately, “Tejas” seems set to face a grim Monday, with a projected nationwide earning of just Rs 54 lakh. Its struggles extended to the overseas market, where it recorded a meager Rs 25 lakh. Directed by Sarvesh Mewara, “Tejas” revolves around a fictional Indian Air Force pilot on a mission to rescue hostages from terrorists. The film also features Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Vishak Nair in pivotal roles.
Kangana’s Resilience
Despite the challenges, Kangana Ranaut remains resilient. In response to the film’s performance, she took to social media to express her determination. Kangana emphasized that those wishing her ill will ultimately lead “forever miserable” lives, as she considers herself unstoppable. She spoke about her destiny to achieve “significant” milestones and recounted her journey from Himachal Pradesh to follow her dreams at the age of 15. Kangana encouraged her detractors to join her “fan clubs” to align with her “larger universal plan.”
“Tejas” may have faced a challenging opening weekend at the box office, but Kangana Ranaut’s indomitable spirit continues to shine. Her message of resilience and determination in the face of adversity serves as a reminder of her unwavering commitment to her craft and her belief in achieving great things in life. While the box office results may be disappointing, Kangana’s zeal remains undiminished.
