30th May 2023, Mumbai: The Kerala Story, directed by Sudipto Sen and featuring Adah Sharma, has been garnering attention at the box office. While the film initially performed exceptionally well, it has recently experienced a slowdown in its collection. Despite this, there is still hope for The Kerala Story to surpass the impressive Rs 250 crore mark.
Aiming for another Milestone?
On Day 25 of its release, which was May 29, the film recorded its lowest collection yet, amounting to Rs 2.10 crore. Nevertheless, the movie has made a significant impact in the industry, already crossing the Rs 200 crore milestone. With its engaging narrative revolving around religious conversions and the ISIS, The Kerala Story centers around the lives of three women. Despite the controversies surrounding the film, it successfully premiered on May 5 and has since been performing remarkably well at the box office. After reaching the Rs 200 crore club on Day 18, the film’s collection rate began to decline. Based on early trade estimates, The Kerala Story has currently amassed a total collection of Rs 227.07 crore. On May 28, it maintained an occupancy rate of 10.30 percent in Hindi theaters.
The storyline of The Kerala Story follows the journey of a Hindu woman from Kerala, portrayed by Adah Sharma. She is coerced into converting to Islam and is sent to Syria, where she is forced to join the ISIS terrorist organization and subjected to torment. Sudipto Sen helms the film, which is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Since the release of its trailer, The Kerala Story has been under scrutiny, attracting attention and discussions. Despite the recent decline in box office collection, the film still holds the potential to surpass the Rs 250 crore mark, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating its future performance.
