25th March, Mumbai: Renowned Indian film director, Pradeep Sarkar, passed away this morning (March 24) due to age-related ailments, leaving the entire Bollywood industry in shock. He was 68 years old. The last rites of the director are currently taking place at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium in Mumbai, where several celebrities, including Rani Mukerji, Vidya Balan, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, have arrived to pay their respects. Sarkar was known for directing critically acclaimed films like Parineeta and Mardaani, and his demise is a great loss to the Indian film industry.
The mortal remains of Pradeep Sarkar, the late renowned filmmaker, were transported in a flower-decorated ambulance. Sarkar’s relatives were also present inside the ambulance to say their final goodbyes to the departed director.
Actress Rani Mukerji was seen at the crematorium to pay her final respects to Pradeep Sarkar, with whom she had collaborated on the film, Laga Chunari Mein Daag.
Vidya Balan and her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur were among the visitors who came to pay their last respects to Pradeep Sarkar. It is worth noting that Vidya Balan made her debut in Bollywood with Pradeep Sarkar’s film, Parineeta.
Pradeep Sarkar’s funeral was attended by several notable individuals including producer and director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, alongside his wife Anupama Chopra. Other attendees included Ashok Pandit, Dia Mirza, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Divyanka Tripathi, Vivek Dahiya, and Rhea Chakraborty, among others.
According to reports, Pradeep Sarkar’s family released a statement to the media announcing his passing, stating that he had left this world and that his funeral would be held at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium at 4 pm. It has been reported that he was undergoing dialysis and experienced a significant drop in his potassium levels.
