Producer of “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,” Sandeep Singh, told IndiaToday.Actor Ankita Lokhande, who is also his close friend, stated in an exclusive interview that he did not charge for the movie. The actor, who had starred in “Bigg Boss 17,” portrayed Yamuna Bai, Savarkar’s wife, in a Randeep Hooda film prior to this one.
Before agreeing to star in “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,” Ankita Lokhande had one requirement, according to Sandeep Singh: she couldn’t receive any payment from him for the movie. Singh went on to say that they didn’t even talk about the movie. Ankita Lokhande revealed that she has always supported Singh’s vision. Even more, Sandeep Singh revealed how she would persuade Sushant Singh Rajput to star in a movie that he would be directing. ‘Safed’, which was released in December of last year, marked Singh’s directorial debut.
Producer Sandeep Singh says,
“ANKITA DID NOT CHARGE MONEY FOR ‘SWATANTRYA…'”
in a special interview that IndiaToday published.Ankita and Kangana Ranaut were among the first few people, according to Sandeep Singh, to have faith in his directing ability and vision. “I had a buddy named Ankita who believed in me since then,” he recounted, “while I was working with Mr. Bhansali as a CEO and co-producing ‘Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Gabbar is Back’, and ‘Rowdy Rathore’. In actuality, she and star Kangana Ranaut were some of the first to advise me that I ought to become a director. ‘Sandeep, ek cheez hai – tum film banana toh main hi acting karungi (But there’s one thing – whenever you produce a movie, I’ll act in it)’ said Ankita. “Okay,” I replied. She wasn’t able to do the picture at the time I asked her to do “Safed.”
“After going through a lot of media trials, nobody wanted to work with me when I got ‘Savarkar,'” he went on. The actors believed that working with me would damage their reputation. I visited her home as a brother, a friend, and a family member. I never informed her that I don’t have any clients. I just said to her, “You should play Yamunabai in Savarkar.” “Done,” she exclaimed.
Ankita was fine with him adding that he was not available for discussion at that time. She was under one condition only. “There won’t be any fees associated with this movie. Sandeep remembers Ankita telling him, “I can never charge you money for any role.” “I laughed and said, ‘Then you are in all my films,'” he remembers telling her.
ANKITA LOKHANDE: “DID ‘SWATANTRYA VEER SAVARKAR’ FOR SANDEEP”
With a nod, Ankita Lokhande remarked, “You are a friend when you claim to be one. Although I intended to collaborate with him, I was unable to do so due to scheduling conflicts during “Safed.” However, I’ve always trusted in his vision. He has a pretty clear idea of what movies should be. He is knowledgeable in movies, and I don’t mean only movies. He has always struck me as a director with a powerful creative vision, and I want to always have faith in him. For this reason, I expressed my desire to portray Yamunabai in “Savarkar.” It was for him, and he was the one.”
ANKITA USED TO CONVINCE SUSHANT TO WORK IN MY FILM’: SANDEEP SINGH
Ankita continued, “I always believed in him. In fact, you know, when three of us were together, she used to convince Sushant that ‘Guggu, you have to work in his filmâ¦,” Sandeep recalled. I used to advise him to “do your thing,” even when he was with Sanjay sir (Sanjay Leela Bhansali). Simply turn into a director.”
With the film “Safed,” which starred Abhay Verma and Meera Chopra in the key roles, Sandeep Singh made his feature film debut. Zee5 broadcasted the movie premiere.
