7 July 2023, Mumbai: The much-anticipated biographical drama film, “Tarla,” is set to make its digital world premiere on July 7, 2023, exclusively on ZEE5 Global. Directed by Piyush Gupta, the movie portrays the remarkable life of the renowned chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal. The film sheds light on the challenges she faced and the extraordinary support she received from her husband, highlighting the power of love and encouragement in pursuing one’s dreams.
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Earthsky Pictures, “Tarla” has already generated substantial buzz within the film industry and among audiences worldwide. The trailer, unveiled on ZEE5 Global, the leading streaming platform for South Asian content, has captivated viewers, promising an engaging and inspiring cinematic experience.
Stepping into the shoes of the leading lady, Huma Qureshi delivers a powerful performance as Tarla Dalal. Qureshi, known for her versatility as an actress, shared her personal connection to the film’s theme recently. She revealed, “It’s about having love and support. My dad didn’t support me initially. He told me, ‘Pack your bags and leave, I’m giving you one year to make something of your own.’ However, later in life, he did support me because, why not! He is my dad. This film, ‘Tarla,’ touches on the same topic, and that’s what motivated me to take on this role.”
Sharib Hashmi, playing a significant role as Tarla’s supportive husband, also shared his insights on the film. Hashmi stated, “Back when the term entrepreneur wasn’t even in vogue, Tarla Dalal broke many barriers and became a force to be reckoned with. While everyone is aware of her journey, few are aware of the challenges she faced in order to attain that milestone. People may also be unaware that she had a supportive husband who was the wind beneath her wings. He gave up on his aspirations to help fulfil hers.”
“Tarla” not only pays tribute to Tarla Dalal’s culinary legacy but also aims to inspire individuals to overcome obstacles and pursue their passions with unwavering determination. Through the lens of her personal journey and the invaluable support she received from her husband, the film aims to challenge societal norms and empower audiences to question existing patriarchal structures.
