Successful films like Bandit Queen, Mother India, Mom, Kahaani, Queen, Raazi, and Mardaani have paved the way for prominent women narratives. Female filmmakers are leading the charge, crafting empowering stories from diverse backgrounds, shaping a new era of cinema.
Here are a few women filmmakers creating waves with their female-driven cinema:
KANIKA DHILLON – DO PATTI
Writer and producer Kanika Dhillon has made a significant impact by creating strong and independent female characters who have received remarkable acclaim. Her exceptional writing vision has been evident in films such as Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath, Haseen Dillruba, Rashmi Rocket, and others. Her upcoming project as a writer is the highly anticipated Dunki. Kanika recently announced her production house, Kathha Pictures, with her debut project, Do Patti, for which she has got onboard Kajol and Kriti Sanon.
RHEA KAPOOR – THANK YOU FOR COMING
Rhea Kapoor has redefined the concept of chick flicks in Indian cinema by crafting stories that revolve around deep friendships, commitments, entertainment, and empowering women at its core.
