2nd June 2023, Mumbai: In recent months, social media has been buzzing with speculations about the future projects of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. With the completion of the shooting for his highly anticipated Diwali 2023 release, Tiger 3, fans are eager to know what’s next for the actor. Salman is taking his time to carefully select the perfect script for his next venture after Tiger 3.
According to insiders close to the actor, Salman is currently awaiting responses from renowned filmmakers Sooraj Barjatya, Karan Johar, and Sajid Nadiadwala. Although Salman expressed interest in doing No Entry 2, there are certain issues surrounding the film that need to be resolved. He has assigned a dedicated team to sort out these complications, but the situation remains unresolved for now. Meanwhile, there are three specific ideas that have caught Salman’s attention, but he is yet to hear a detailed narration on the screenplay drafts.
Sources reveal that Salman has been in constant contact with Karan Johar and Vishnu Vardhan regarding an action film set against the backdrop of the Indian Army. They recently had a meeting before Salman’s quick trip to Abu Dhabi for the IIFA event, and another meeting is expected to take place in mid-June. The basic concept of the film has excited Salman, and by the end of this month, it will be decided whether he will be a part of the project or not.
Apart from the Karan Johar production, Salman is eagerly waiting to receive narrations from Sooraj Barjatya and Sajid Nadiadwala. Both filmmakers share a deep bond with Salman beyond their professional relationship. Sooraj’s story revolves around a married couple set against the backdrop of nuclear families, while Sajid’s film is the highly anticipated Kick 2. If the collaboration with Karan Johar doesn’t materialize, Salman is hopeful that Sooraj will have his project ready by August, aiming for a Diwali 2024 release.
Additionally, Salman has been contemplating a sequel to Kick, but the screenplay for this action-packed entertainer is still in the development stage at NGE. The decision ultimately depends on which of the three projects receives the green light. Salman’s shooting schedule remains open until February/March next year when he begins working on the much-anticipated film Tiger vs Pathaan. If none of the current opportunities materialize, Salman will proceed with Tiger vs Pathaan as his next project. Surprisingly, for the first time in his illustrious 30-year-plus career, Salman finds himself lacking excitement for the projects being offered, resulting in an unplanned break from filming.
Notably, director Harish Shankar pitched a subject to Salman for Mythri Productions, but the actor was not particularly thrilled with the script. A similar situation occurred when Dil Raju presented an intense action film, but Salman wasn’t in the mood for a heavier role. There has also been an offer from Aamir Khan for the remake of Champeones, but the project is still in the writing stage, and there is no update on its progress.
