15 November 2023, Mumbai: Salman Khan emerges victorious with “Tiger 3,” a blockbuster that has shattered the Rs 200 crore global gross milestone within just three days. This marks a triumphant comeback for the Bollywood icon, solidifying his status in the industry. The YRF action-thriller, nestled in the Spy Universe, showcases Khan’s enduring appeal as it resonates with audiences worldwide.
Tiger 3’s Record-Breaking Feat on Day 3
On its third day, “Tiger 3” etches its name in history, breaking two records for Salman Khan. The interconnected film in YRF’s Spy Universe amassed an estimated Rs 42 crore on Tuesday, propelling its total to over Rs 100 crore in the initial two days. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the nett domestic total now stands at an impressive Rs 146 crore, marking Salman’s 17th movie to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore nett mark.
Tiger 3’s Unconventional Opening
The unconventional Sunday release of “Tiger 3” on Diwali set the stage for its spectacular opening, raking in Rs 44 crore. Day two witnessed exponential growth, with earnings soaring to Rs 58 crore. Globally, the film has already surpassed Rs 220 crore, positioning itself to potentially surpass the decade-old global gross record of Rs 330 crore set by “Ek Tha Tiger.” Notably, “Tiger Zinda Hai” in 2017 grossed a staggering Rs 565 crore, showcasing the immense global appeal of the franchise.
Tiger 3 Comparison with Other Hits
On the third day, “Tiger 3” reported a 33% Hindi-language occupancy, while its Tamil and Telugu versions garnered less than 20% each. Interestingly, the film hasn’t resonated as strongly in South Indian regions compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 hits, “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” which both exceeded the Rs 1000 crore benchmark. While Salman has approached but not breached this milestone, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” remains his highest-grossing film worldwide, surpassing Rs 900 crore.
The YRF Spy Universe and Future Installments
Starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, “Tiger 3” is the fifth installment in YRF’s shared universe of spy films, which includes the likes of “Pathaan” and “War.” Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan made cameo appearances, hinting at future developments. “War 2” is currently in production under Ayan Mukerji’s direction, and a tantalizing teaser has been unveiled for a potential clash between Tiger and Pathaan, with Siddharth Anand at the helm. The YRF Spy Universe continues to captivate audiences, promising more cinematic thrills in the days to come.
