5th May 2023, Mumbai: Anushka Sharma, a popular Bollywood actor, is gearing up to make her debut appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, which is scheduled to take place from May 16th to May 28th. At this esteemed event, she will join hands with Hollywood star Kate Winslet to pay tribute to the contribution of women in the world of cinema. The Cannes Film Festival is a much-awaited occasion that attracts filmmakers, actors, and cinema enthusiasts from around the globe to celebrate the art of filmmaking.
The French Ambassador to India, Emmanuel Lenain, shared a photograph with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma on his Twitter account. In the accompanying caption, he expressed his delight at meeting the couple and conveyed his best wishes to Virat and the Indian cricket team for their upcoming tournaments. He also discussed with them about Anushka’s forthcoming visit to the Cannes Film Festival.
A fan expressed gratitude for sharing the news, while another expressed excitement. A different admirer referred to the couple as “King and Queen”. Since Virat is currently serving as the interim captain for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, following Faf du Plessis’ injury, it seems unlikely that he will accompany Anushka to the film festival, as he will be busy with his cricketing commitments.
The esteemed Cannes Film Festival’s 76th edition is scheduled to occur from May 16 to May 27, 2023. Over the years, renowned Indian actors such as Sharmila Tagore, Aishwarya Rai, Vidya Balan, and Deepika Padukone have had the honour of serving on the jury for this prestigious event.
Several other prominent Bollywood personalities such as Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat, Pooja Hegde, Hina Khan, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Aditi Rao Hydari have graced the Cannes Film Festival in the past, and have walked the red carpet as part of fashion or luxury brand promotions. This year, two Indian films, Kennedy and Agra, will be showcased at the festival.
Anushka Sharma is all set to make her comeback in films this year with the Netflix movie titled “Chakda Xpress”, in which she portrays the role of cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Her previous film was “Zero” in 2018, where she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in Aanand L Rai’s directorial venture.
