21 July 2023, Mumbai: Annu Kapoor recently voiced his strong disapproval of Nitesh Tiwari’s supposed plans to adapt the Indian epic Ramayana. Following the severe backlash faced by Om Raut’s movie Adipurush, which was criticized for its poor interpretation of iconic characters, sloppy writing, and questionable CGI, Kapoor decided to share his thoughts on another adaptation.

Despite the poor reception of Adipurush, Nitesh Tiwari remains confident that his adaptation of Ramayana will stand out and receive acclaim. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Annu Kapoor didn’t mince his words while slamming Nitesh Tiwari, stating,“Kaun hain Nitesh Tiwari? Kya hain uski aaukat? Hindu dharam ka apmaan karna? (Film) bana rahe hai? Jootey padenge usko. Kisi bhi dharm ka apmaan iss volatile situation ke andar. Yeh woh samay nahi hain ke aap samiksha kare. Aapka samaaj abhi uss sthar par nahi pahucha hai. Rational perspective aapke andar nahi aaya hain ki aap dharam ki samiksha kare. Pehle dharm ko samjho toh sahi, fir samiksha karna.”
Casting Rumors and Tiwari’s Stance
It is rumored that Nitesh Tiwari plans to cast top Bollywood stars such as Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, and Alia Bhatt in his upcoming fantasy/drama movie. Although concrete details are yet to be revealed, Tiwari previously stated that he is a consumer of the content he creates and believes he won’t offend anyone with his adaptation.

Meanwhile, the 67-year-old actor, Annu Kapoor, remains busy with his projects. He is set to appear in ‘Dream Girl 2’ alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Pandey.
