9th July 2023,Mumbai: The teaser for Akshay Kumar’s much anticipated satire comedy OMG 2 will be launched on Tuesday, July 11, one month before the movie is scheduled to hit theatres on August 11. The follow-up to his 2012 smash single OMG – Oh My God!, which also starred Paresh Rawal, is titled OMG 2.Last Thursday, Akshay unveiled the OMG 2 posters, which featured Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and him as Lord Shiva. The teaser would be released soon, he added.Now, Akshay revealed on Sunday that the OMG 2 teaser would debut on Tuesday, July 11. Along with the date, he also showed a little video of his powerful Lord Shiva avatar walking towards the camera. Chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ serenade the background.
Viacom18 Studios and Akshay’s Cape of Good Films jointly produced the movie. Govind Namdev, who portrayed an upset sadhu in the first installment, is also a celebrity. While Paresh Rawal and Mithun Chakraborty both acted in that film, the sequel has a new plot and new characters played by Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi. The legendary character of Lord Rama will be portrayed once again by Arun Govil, who played Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s TV series Ramayan.
On August 11, OMG 2 will compete in theatres with yet another well-liked, eagerly anticipated sequel. On the same day, Gadar 2, the follow-up to Anil Sharma’s historical blockbuster from 2001, would be released. Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol will repeat their enduring performances as Tara Singh and Sakina, respectively. Anil is once again in charge of directing the sequel, which is co-produced by Zed Studios and also has his son Utkarsh Sharma in a supporting role.
The action romance wasn’t the only competitor for OMG 2 over the prolonged Fourth of July weekend in the past. Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, was originally slated for release on August 11 but was postponed due to VFX production.
