The third instalment of one of his most successful franchises is not in the works for Akshay Kumar, who shared the stage with Ram Charan on Saturday night during the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2022. Akshay also discussed his vision to work in films. The Khiladi of Bollywood got into tears while explaining why he decided not to participate in Hera Pheri 3 and apologised to his fans as well.
The Bollywood superstar responded when asked to address the speculation surrounding why he would not be acting in Hera Pheri 3. He said, “Hera Pheri has been a part of me. Like a lot of people, I have some really good memories. Even i get sad that the much-awaited third part hasn’t been made for all these years. As I said earlier, we have to dismantle things and have to start thinking in different ways.”
“The film was offered to me. I was told about it, but the script, the screenplay, I was not happy with it. Just not say it but I have to do what people want to see and that’s why I backed out. I took a step behind. For me, it’s a part of my life, my journey and I am really sad for not doing it because I am really unhappy with the way things have shaped up.”
Numerous Akshay admirers have posted the slogan “No raju no hera pheri” on Twitter. When discussing the same, the actor became quite emotional and said, “I am as much hurt as my audiences are. I know, my fans love me but I apologise to them that I won’t be doing Here Pheri 3.”
Proceeding on, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor added his opinions on why the majority of Bollywood movies this year failed as a film. “The audience needs something brand-new and epic right now”, Akshay told the portal. He continued by citing examples of Hollywood directors who are satisfying audience demands, such as the MCU movies.
“However, as much as I want to give my audience what they want, I would like them to come to theatres for all kinds of cinemas and not just with the huge VFX”, he said.
