4th April 2023, Mumbai: Recently, Priyanka Chopra spoke about being allegedly “cornered” in Bollywood, which led her to move to the US. In response, Shekhar Suman, an actor, claimed that both he and his son Adhyayan Suman have also faced bullying in the Hindi film industry and have been targeted by groups. Shekhar asserted in an interview with The Times of India that certain individuals in the industry attempted to harm his son Adhyayan, who was once considered a rising star. When asked if his outspokenness affected Adhyayan’s career, he replied that people in the industry often take offence to matters that are widely discussed in the public domain, while he himself has only expressed his opinions and thoughts on a news network or in the media. He also revealed that since the people who attempted to harm him were unsuccessful, they attempted to harm his son instead.
Shekhar shared an incident that strengthened his belief that there were individuals trying to undermine Adhyayan’s career. He stated that Adhyayan was being considered for several projects, but was abruptly dropped from them. Shekhar further disclosed that he investigated the matter and found out that there were several people behind this, who were telling others not to cast Adhyayan.
Adhyayan Suman entered the Bollywood industry in 2008 with his debut film Haal-e-Dil and gained popularity with his performance in Raaz – The Mystery Continues. He subsequently appeared in a few singles and his most recent appearance was in R Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist (2022). Shekhar alleged that after Adhyayan’s success in Raaz, a group of people, acting in concert, set out to obstruct his progress in the industry. Shekhar referred to this group as a “whole cabal” working to advance “their own people” while creating impediments for Adhyayan, causing him to falter.
Shekhar also disclosed that Adhyayan has been signed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for one of his upcoming projects, marking a major comeback after a prolonged hiatus in his career. Shekhar expressed his belief that talent cannot be suppressed permanently. Although efforts may be made to stifle it, it will inevitably emerge victorious
Previously, Shekhar had shared his difficult situation on Twitter. He posted that he was aware of at least four individuals in the industry who had formed an alliance to exclude him and Adhyayan from several projects. Shekhar asserted that he was certain of this information. He referred to these individuals as “gangsters,” who wielded significant influence and were more treacherous than a venomous snake. However, he remained steadfast in his conviction that while they may create obstacles, they would not succeed in preventing him and Adhyayan from achieving their goals.
