5th July 2023,Mumbai: Actor Abhilash Thapliyal criticised the gender bias in the profession while discussing his connection with Taapsee Pannu. “Why don’t we put Shah Rukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan to the same scrutiny when it comes to selecting male-centric characters,” he questioned in response to a question about Taapsee’s screenplay choices. Additionally, Abhilash stated that although he is unsure of Taapsee’s procedure, he will ask her. He is aware that she is devoted to her work, disciplined in it, and outgoing even after starring in blockbuster.

Abhilash Thapaliyal is overjoyed about his participation at Cannes since in addition to walking the red carpet, he was also in the movie Kennedy, which drew a 7-minute standing ovation during the Midnight Screenings event. Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhat, and director Anurag Kashyap travelled to Cannes with the actor. He kindly expresses his appreciation to the numerous cinephiles from all around the world there, including the film school students and seasoned filmmakers.
Abhilash remembers his first meeting with Anurag Kashyap, who was busy filming the movie Dobaara, with affection. Later, he unexpectedly received a call from Kashyap in which the director gave him a script and inquired as to whether he would be interested in playing a role. As Kashyap stated, “While crafting the character, I envisioned you as the perfect fit.”
Abhilash was raised in a variety of locations, including Uttarakhand, Delhi, and ultimately Mumbai. He is a member of an Army family. He is convinced that his upbringing has instilled in him the values of discipline and timeliness. Abhilash, who is dedicated to his career, says that he prioritises other people’s value of time in order to value himself. Abhilash thanks his parents for giving him the freedom to follow his hobbies and try new things in terms of his job and schooling. Even when things didn’t go according to plan, they continued to offer steadfast support.
Abhilash claims that his time in Delhi is what gave him his street smarts, while Mumbai, in his opinion, lacks judgement. He contends that a person’s value cannot be gauged by the vehicle, phone, or clothing they choose to wear. It extends beyond these tangible features. According to Abhilash, a person’s definition ought to include a lot more. Given how much he values the work he is doing right now, he acknowledges that he is still trying to figure out what defines him.
Following his remarkable performance as SK Sir in TVF’s Aspirants, Abhilash takes stock of his journey. From there, he started his mini-series, SK Sir ki Class, and as a result of the success of the show, he received several proposals for scripts with a similar premise. This turning point gave him the chance to show off his serious acting skills rather than only playing the side character in comedy parts.
Abhilash expresses gratitude for the character of SK Sir and recognises that it played a crucial part in providing possibilities for works like Ajay Bahl’s movie Blurr, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s television series Faadu – A Love Story, and upcoming films like Maidaan and Navdeep Singh’s Shehar Lakhot, among others. While he gives some of the credit for these opportunities to chance, Abhilash also recognizes the significance of his hard work and dedication to the characters he portrays, which leaves a lasting impact.
Abhilash stressed the value of seizing every chance to lend a hand when trying to achieve success. He emphasised the value of doing rather than pondering too much. Additionally, Abhilash supports trying new things and taking chances. Due to his middle-class upbringing, he emphasises that there is no significant wealth at risk if things don’t turn out as expected. He thinks that in order to reach a larger audience, news reporting should include all pertinent facts and numbers without taking a position or changing the story.
Abhilash also revealed a number of other things, including his appreciation for Boman Irani and his admission that he doesn’t see many films.
