29 May 2023, Mumbai: Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, known for his remarkable performances, recently made some explosive revelations during a podcast interview. The 61-year-old actor shared his experiences of receiving threatening calls from the underworld during the 90s. Despite the intimidation, Shetty remained fearless and even responded with verbal abuse. He also shed light on his eventful past, emphasising that he has kept certain details hidden from his children. Additionally, Shetty discussed his family’s background and their decision to move away from an area associated with the “golden gang of Mumbai.”
Suniel Shetty, renowned for his roles in films like “Hera Pheri” and “Dhadkan,” spoke candidly during a recent interview on the podcast ‘The BarberShop with Shantanu.’ The veteran actor recounted receiving menacing calls from the underworld in the 1990s, but he refused to succumb to fear. Recalling the incidents, Shetty said, “You know, I used to get calls saying, ‘I will do this, I will do that.’ I used to abuse them back.” He added that even the police warned him about the potential consequences of his actions, but he staunchly defended himself, asserting that he had done nothing wrong.
During the interview, Shetty revealed that he had been involved in some “crazy stuff” in the past, which he chose not to disclose to his children, Athiya and Ahaan. He hinted at having faced injuries and challenges but managed to heal himself over time. Reflecting on his experiences, Shetty emphasised the healing power of time, particularly from a fitness perspective.
The actor also shared insights into his family’s background, mentioning that they used to reside in Mumbai’s Lamington Road area, known for its association with the first “golden gang of Mumbai.” Despite his father’s success in business in that locality, Shetty’s father was determined to provide his children with a better environment. “He begged, borrowed, stole. He did not steal, but they moved into an area with better culture, better schools, better people,” Shetty revealed.
On the professional front, Suniel Shetty will soon be seen reprising his iconic role as Shyam in the highly anticipated film “Hera Pheri 3.” Directed by Farhad Samii, the movie has been generating significant buzz among fans eagerly awaiting the next instalment of this beloved comedy franchise
