17th March, Mumbai: Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, directed by Luv Ranjan, has been able to give theatregoers and cinema owners some relief after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan left them yearning for a satisfying theatrical experience. The love drama starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor is still attracting viewers despite receiving some negative reviews. The movie had a successful first week, and on its eighth day at the box office, it had raked in over Rs 5 crore. Moreover, the romantic comedy starring Ranbir and Shraddha is the 12th movie to near the 100 crore milestone since the epidemic. Once the pandemic’s severity lessened, it was particularly challenging for filmmakers to draw audiences to theatres since they had grown so picky about their movies throughout the pandemic period.
The movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar earned Rs 5.60 crore (early estimates) on Wednesday, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, increasing the total revenue of the production to almost Rs 88 crore. On March 15, the market for Hindi speakers had a 10.31% overall occupancy rate.
In recent years, Bollywood has had difficulty providing audiences with quality options in theatres. Only two blockbusters, Drishyam 2 (Rs. 240.54 cr.) and Pathaan, have been produced in the past six months (Rs 539.64 cr). Although though Brahmastra made a healthy profit (Rs 257.44 cr), its revenue was not sufficient to cover its enormous production costs. Apart from them, only three movies were able to surpass the Rs 50 crore threshold: Vikram Vedha (Rs 78.66 cr), Ram Setu (Rs 71.87 cr), and Bhediya (Rs 66.65 cr).
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar debuted on March 8 to generally negative reviews but is expected to surpass the Rs 100 crore mark. The plot of the movie revolves around two characters Rohan and Nisha, who both are players when it comes to relationship. Madness ensues when these two meet.
Tu Jhooti Mai Makkar to cross the 100 crore mark soon!
