History
Onkar Kanwar, the company’s chairman and MD, and Neeraj Kanwar, its vice chairman and MD, launched Apollo Tyres in 1985. Chennai, India served as the company’s first manufacturing location. In the 1990s and 2000s, Apollo Tyres significantly increased its manufacturing capacity by constructing additional facilities in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and South Africa. Additionally, the corporation developed its worldwide sales network. Apollo Tyres purchased Cooper Tyre & Rubber Company, a tyre manufacturer based in the US, in 2006. Dunlop South Africa, a manufacturer of tyres in South Africa, was purchased by Apollo Tyres in 2017.
