3 June 2023, Mumbai: Sonu Sood was one among the numerous Bollywood stars who expressed sorrow for everyone who perished in the tragic railway disaster in Balasore, Odisha.
However, the actor went on to post a video statement in which he expressed compassion for people who lost loved ones or sustained permanent injuries and their quality of life. He predicted that individuals sharing their pain on social media will soon become busy, but he is concerned about what the victims will do once they have spent their compensation within a few months. Additionally, Sonu has advised political parties to refrain from assigning blame and urged the government to create a fund for victim compensation. He states in the video, “We tweet and express grief and then get busy with our lives,” (We tweet and express pain and then get busy with our lives). But what about everyone who left their homes to find work in another place, many families have disappeared; will they ever be able to get up again?”
He declared, ” Compensations milenge jo 2-4 mahine me khatam ho jayenge.” How about the person who fractured his shoulder or lost a leg; would he ever be able to work again? These individuals all support the family financially. However, I believe they should introduce a policy for the victims of such unfortunate accidents. I believe the government is working really effectively for them. For such families, a stable income should be guaranteed, similar to the pension system. Any form of recompense, he continued, will not make up for the lives lost and will eventually disappear.”
Sonu has also urged political parties to refrain from assigning blame and asked the government to create a fund to aid the victims. The expression “sirf social media pe dukh dikhane se kuch nahi hoga” (expressing grief on social media would have no effect) was used by the speaker.
A three-train crash in Odisha on Friday night resulted in at least 288 fatalities and close to 900 injuries. On social media, a number of celebrities have offered their sympathies for the deaths.By Khushboo Singh
