Did you realize that Sridevi, the late actress, was a vegetarian? In a recent interview, Janhvi Kapoor revealed that her mother, Sridevi, stopped eating non-veg years ago to prevent her husband, Boney Kapoor, from smoking. Despite doctors’ advice to eat non-vegetarian foods because she was ‘weak,’ Sridevi did so. Janhvi also claimed that she and Khushi Kapoor tried to scare him away by burning his cigarettes.
Sridevi and Boney Kapoor married in 1996. Janhvi Kapoor is Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s eldest daughter. Khushi Kapoor, her sister, will also make her Bollywood debut. Janhvi revealed that Boney had a cigarette addiction that no one, including his daughters, could break.
“It was a long time ago I remember staying in our Juhu house, papa was smoking a lot,” Janhvi told Pinkvilla. It was around the time of No Entry, Wanted, and every morning, Khushi and I would come up with new ways to destroy his cigarette packets. So we’d either go cut up his cigarettes or I’d open it and put toothpaste on it. Nothing worked, and Mom would continue to fight with him.
“She became a vegetarian.” She said she wouldn’t eat anything non-vegetarian until you quit smoking, but the doctors said she was too weak. She said no, and you should eat more. And Papa would be begging her. Then, four or five years ago, he was exactly what she wanted me to stop being. At the time, I couldn’t do it. Janhvi said, “I’ll do it right now.”
Sridevi died of an accidental drowning on February 24, 2018, according to reports. She was in town for Boney’s nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding.
Janhvi will next be seen in Mili, a survival thriller starring Sunny Kaushal and Manoj Pahwa. She is also collaborating with Rajkummar Rao on Mr. and Mrs. Mahi and Varun Dhawan on Bawaal.
