The 28th Critics Choice Awards saw SS Rajamouli’s RRR win not one, but two prizes, adding to its legacy of making India proud. The movie won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song for its popular song Naatu Naatu at a ceremony held in Los Angeles. A video of MM Keeravaani’s acceptance speech was also released on the RRR’s official Twitter account along with the news. In the video, the RRR composer can be heard saying, “Thank you so much I am very overwhelmed with this award. I am here to receive this wonderful award by the critics. Thank you all the critics, on behalf of my chorographer, lyrics writer, my singers, my programmers and of course my director.”
Later, the Critics Choice Awards’ post praising RRR for winning the Best Foreign Language Film was reposted on the official Twitter account of RRR. “Congratulations to the cast and crew of @RRRMovie! You have won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Foreign Language Film!”
RRR, the landmark film from SS Rajamouli starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, is on the rise. The movie has previously received nominations for Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Song at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. Naatu Naatu, a song written by MM Keeravaani, took first place out of two entries in the Best Song category. Additionally, the composer received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association’s Best Music Core Award on Saturday (LAFCA).
Two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem, are the subjects of the movie RRR (played by Jr NTR). Crucial roles in the film were also played by Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris.
