Plot: An artist with a difficult upbringing strives to succeed and amass enough wealth to fulfil all of his desires. He discovers his ability for generating false currency that is so authentic-looking that only cutting-edge technology can produce it. He is quickly drawn into a lethal syndicate’s net and becomes complicit in a major worldwide crime. It is the ascent of a villain with vengeance burning in his eyes.

Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Rashi Khanna, Bhuvan Arora.

Director: Raj and DK

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐½

Review: In this time, the entertainment sector has advanced significantly. With the advent of web series, the content landscape has been completely reshaped, going far beyond the cliché of 2 to 3 hours of films but Prime Video’s Farzi is one of those series that quite a bit different from the one that we as viewers have seen thus far. Every year, the audience gets to watch one series that is extremely high on its entertainment quotient while solidifying its place in the binge-watch list of the masses.

After inciting outrage on the big screens, many celebrities entered the OTT space. Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi are two such well-known actors who are making their online television debuts in the Farzi web series. The superstar does have a sizable fan base around the world, and his film preferences have always been lauded. The fact that celebrities like Shahid and Vijay chose the crime drama genre with Farzi for their digital debuts is something to definitely keep you on the edge of your seats.

The programme has the ideal balance of drama, suspense, humour, and action. The show’s compelling plot is handled well by the direction, and viewers are fully engaged throughout. It is not didactic in nature to show the protagonist as a criminal. First comes desperation, followed by greed, envy, and rage. When the protagonist acts out of desperation or claims to be fighting an unfair system, the show neither condemns nor justifies his actions, nor does it glorify them.

Performances: Shahid Kapoor as Sunny gave an heated performance. He was know how to bring anger and frustration on the screen that Sunny constantly deals with.

Talking about the Performance besides lead Shahid Kapoor, Only an actor of Vijay Sethupathi’s magnitude could perform with such ease. If any other actor had approached this part with the same body language, he might have looked like a spoof, but Vijay manages to find the quirk and sell it fairly well. You notice him resting his head on his hands during a high-profile meeting. You must see the scenario where he blackmails a minister of the highest rank to comprehend his range.

When Kay Kay Menon appears on Series as Mansoor, a mobster who is India’s leading seller of fake currency, Kay Kay Menon never fails to deliver his best. His position quickly becomes problematic as Shahid’s character enters the picture. Menon makes a strong performance in Farzi as well.

As a new member of Vijay’s squad, Raashii Khanna plays an RBI agent who has become an investigator of counterfeit currency printing. She also has a significant part in the show and gives a natural performance.

Bhuvan Arora, who plays Firoz, makes a similar commitment to the part. His near-perfect Mumbai accent and the way he portrays the peculiarities of his character make him stand out.

Direction: If that’s not enough, we all need to be recognised by titles like The Family Man and Stree, just two recent instances from Raj & DK’s home.

The show features the distinctive filmmaking style of Raj & DK as well as brief comic reliefs interspersed with the gloomy subjects. The show’s plot is highly compelling and won’t bore you or cause you to look away from the screen even for a little period. Farzi’s finale leaves room for speculation regarding a potential second season. Overall, the show is enjoyable and can be seen in one sitting without feeling the need to pause (if you can). There are a total of 8 episodes in Farzi, with each episode lasting 58 to 1 hour.

Farzi stays true to its environment. The plot is firmly grounded in Indian reality, which is quite laudable. For instance, when the characters get snarled in Mumbai traffic, the vehicle pursuit is somewhat amusing than than exciting.

What about the series doesn’t work is, The portrayal of the gap between the haves and the have-nots at times gives the impression that the programme is trying to spark a discussion about how class, respect, and power interact in India, but it only goes so far. When Sunny and Megha’s relationship does not appear to be organic on film, viewers find it difficult to accept it. Sadly, the show’s attempt to inject some romance into the story proved unsuccessful.

Overall Review: Astonishing performances, gripping drama, hilarious skits, Entertaining Chor Police games, and a little bit of action are all featured in the crime drama Farzi to captivate the audience. Indian criminal drama enthusiasts who wish to see a well-made drama that is grounded in their reality should put it on their watch list. Perfect for the Weekend, Watch with your Valentine date if you have any…
