Veteran actress Jamuna passed away on Friday at her home in Hyderabad. She was 86.
Jamuna starred as a heroine in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam films. The 1955 film “Missamma” is where Jamuna first gained attention. L V Prasad was the film’s director.
Jamuna entered politics as well and won the Rajahmundry constituency in the 1989 elections, becoming a member of parliament.
Jamuna performed alongside the dominant heroes of her era, N T Rama Rao and Akkineni Nageshwara Rao.The 1952 film “Puttillu,” “Tenali Ramakrishna,” “Ma Inti Mahalakshmi,” “Gundamma Katha,” “Collector Janaki,” “Sri Krishna Tulabaram,” and “Poolarangadu” are only a few of her well-known productions.
