The previous day, Aishwarya had filed a police complaint claiming that her home locker had been robbed of jewellery worth ₹3.60 lakh. Aishwarya is the elder daughter of the renowned Tamil actor Rajinikanth and his wife Latha Rajinikanth.
Theft happened during the filming of Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s latest movie, Lal Salaam.
As per a report , the filmmaker’s maid, Easwari, teamed up with the driver, Venkatesan, to commit the theft. Easwari allegedly took away nearly 100 sovereigns of gold jewellery, 30 grams of diamond jewellery, and four kilograms of silver articles. The police released a statement indicating that she had sold the stolen items to buy a house and other articles
Having worked as a maid for 18 years, Easwari was well acquainted with the inner workings of Aishwarya’s household, which allowed her to steal the items from the locker over several days. She had access to the locker’s key and opened it multiple times to commit the theft. The police seized the stolen articles from Easwari’s home, as well as documents related to her purchase of a house property.
In the FIR filed on Monday, Aishwarya had mentioned that she had last worn the jewellery during her younger sister Soundarya’s wedding in 2019. After the wedding, the jewellery had been kept in a locker that had been moved to different houses, including her ex-husband Dhanush’s apartment in 2021 and her father Rajinikanth’s residence. Aishwarya had the keys to the locker, which she kept in her flat. At the time of the theft, she was occupied with the shooting of her latest film, Lal Salaam.
The Teynampet Police had filed a case against the accused under Section 381 of the IPC. As per an India Today report, the stolen jewellery included diamond sets, antique gold pieces, Navaratnam sets, bangles, and approximately 60 sovereigns of gold, with a total value of ₹3.60 lakh.
