Trailer
The trailer of The Bengal Files opens with explosive visuals of blasts, riots, and chaos tearing through the streets of Bengal. The narrative traces the tragic events of Direct Action Day (1946) and the Calcutta Killings, which left thousands dead and scarred Bengal forever. The clip highlights themes ranging from Mahatma Gandhi’s Ahimsa to the deep scars of communal violence and illegal immigration. A burning Durga Maa idol becomes a chilling metaphor for Bengal’s devastated cultural and spiritual identity, underscoring the emotional weight of the story.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher delivers a stirring portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi, bringing emotional depth to the trailer. His calm presence is sharply contrasted with haunting frames of widespread death and destruction. Darshan Kumar appears in a fiery role, embodying the anguish and rage of Bengal’s people during the genocide. The ensemble also includes Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi, adding gravitas to the cast. The trailer closes with the tagline: “Bengal will haunt you.”
