On October 3, 2026, at around 6:00 PM, Sandhu was reportedly waiting outside a car wash on Loharka Road in Amritsar when two unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers opened fire.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a private hospital, where he later died.

Amritsar Police registered an FIR and reportedly identified CCTV leads. The exact motive remained under investigation.
