Spider-Man: Brand New Day has taken the Indian box office by storm. The latest Marvel film opened to Rs 72.44 crore gross on its first day, setting a new record for a Hollywood release in India. The film achieved the milestone without relying on preview shows or block bookings.

The Tom Holland starrer arrived in India a day before its US release, and the early debut helped deliver a record-breaking opening. With strong audience demand across the country, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now the biggest Hollywood opener ever in India.

pider Man Brand New Day Breaks Hollywood Box Office Record In India

The film earned Rs 60.60 crore net and Rs 72.44 crore gross on its opening day. In the process, it broke records that had stood for years.

It surpassed Avatar: The Way of Water, which opened with Rs 40 crore, and Avengers: Endgame, which earned Rs 53 crore on its first day in India.

The record is even more impressive because the film had no preview shows before release. It also skipped block bookings, where producers or stakeholders buy tickets in advance to boost opening-day numbers.

The Marvel Film Also Beats Major Indian Releases

Spider-Man: Brand New Day did not just rewrite Hollywood box office history. It also opened bigger than several blockbuster Indian films.

The movie earned more on day one than Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, which collected Rs 67 crore gross. It also delivered one of the biggest opening days ever seen for a film in India, finishing just behind Kantara Chapter 1's Rs 73 crore gross.

With no major competition this weekend, the film is expected to continue its strong run. Trade estimates suggest it could collect Rs 150–200 crore over the extended four-day weekend.
