Lily-Rose Depp rarely speaks publicly about her connection with her father, but she recently did. Along with her The Idol co-stars, Lily-Rose Depp attended the Cannes Film Festival. The actress expressed her happiness for Johnny Depp in an interview with Entertainment Tonight over the standing ovation for his film Jeanne du Barry. I’m really excited, Lily said as she continued. And it’s wonderful that we get to work on things we can be proud of.
Johnny Depp’s defamation action against Amber Heard has kept him in the spotlight since last year. While the trial was going on, Lily kept quiet about it. Lily’s first television appearance, and her largest role to date, is in The Idol.
The Idol sparks debate.
Lily plays the part of Jocelyn, a pop diva in the HBO series who is attempting to revive her career following a postponed tour. She encounters Tedros, a cult leader played by The Weeknd, in a bar. Because of its explicit nature and scenes, the series attracted a lot of criticism. There were rumours of a “toxic” climate on the set. In a May 23 press conference, Lily responded to these rumours.
The actress stated, “It’s always a little sad and disheartening to see mean, false things said about someone you care about and that you know is not like that,” adding, “It wasn’t at all of my experience.”
She described seeing the audience’s reaction in Cannes as “incredible” in an interview with ET. When asked about the experience, Lily said, “It felt like such a beautiful celebration and culmination of everything that we’ve been through together. And simply kind of a beautiful process that was in the show and putting this tiny family together,” the speaker continued. “It simply felt so lovely.”
