On Sunday, actor Bruce Willis turned 68. In a heartfelt Instagram post, his wife Emma Heming Wallis shared a statement about the challenges of caring for a person with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). On a different Instagram post, Bruce Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore also shared a video of him celebrating his birthday with his daughters, current wife Emma Heming Willis, and other family members.
The actor received a frontotemporal dementia diagnosis last month. Emma shared a video on her Instagram account in which she spoke straight to the camera and explained that she had began the day crying, as evidenced by her “swollen eyes,” but she also wanted to express her unhappiness. “I usually receive the impression that I’m very strong, and people always compliment me on it. I have no idea how you manage it. I am not given a selection. I wish I was, but I’m also parenting two children in this situation. Sometimes in life, we have to pull on our big girl pants and get to work, and that’s what I’m doing right now. Yet I do experience pain and grief on a daily basis, and today—his birthday—I’m particularly experiencing it.
Emma also shared a compilation of videos from their private lives set to Stevie Wonder’s “I’ll Be Love You Always” in another post. Bruce and Emma are seen playing with their daughter on the beach in the video. In the caption, she penned: “He truly is love. He is very adored. And he will always have my love. Dear, happy birthday. I hope you keep Bruce in your thoughts and prayers on his birthday because his sensitive Pisces soul will sense it (folded hands emoji). I also want to thank you for loving and caring for him (red hearts symbol).”
