From playing pranks on each other to laughing uncontrollably on stage, these celebrities share their funniest moments this World Laughter Day.
Ayush Anand: It’s a school memory, we were in the 9th standard and my best friend and I were sitting beside each other. We were trying to do some mischief. We tried to stick chewing gum on our class teacher’s seat but got caught. She came to us and I put the entire blame on my friend. She started hitting him badly and I was in splits seeing him beaten up. He was asked to stand outside the classroom for an hour holding his ears and that sight still gives me guffaws. Laughter to me or anyone is what dance is for dancers. It is soul therapy, it makes life so much better and so much lighter.
Namita Lal: Laughter is really big in my life. I love uncontrollably. All the time at little things just, as I am an emotional person and I cry at the slightest of emotion. I also love the slightest bit of funny stuff. So recently, I laughed uncontrollably sitting on the floor when my two-year-old niece ran in a club and fell down. She slipped on the wet spot and I ran after her and I slipped too in front of the entire crowd. I stood up and sat and just laughed. My niece was about to cry but then she started laughing too. It was nervous laughter but was uncontrollable.
Delnaaz Irani: For me, laughter is everything. According to me, if one does not have a good laugh at least a couple of times in a day, he does not have a good day. Laughter is extremely important to be a happy and positive person and to be a vibrant person. If there is some problem, I laugh it out and it makes me feel better. I remember once that we were performing on stage for a play called Wrong Number and Rakesh Bedi Ji and Kishwar and the entire cast was on stage. First, I said my lines and I laughed at my own lines on stage. I was laughing with the audience. Seeing me Rakesh ji started laughing with his dialogue and seeing him Kishwar started laughing. So with the audience, we all started laughing only to realize that the audience had stopped laughing and only we were laughing on stage! I just couldn’t control it and I exited the stage. I had water and laughed so much and then I re-entered. The audience also realized that there was some internal joke happening and they also started laughing again. These things happen on stage and even in real life and I think that was a moment where I laughed so much. Generally, I am a person who laughs at small things and it is rightly said that laughter is the best medicine. It makes your day beautiful
Balraj Syal: Laughter is not only good for my health but laughing is something that is very much needed and important in my life. Laughter has given me my identity. Laughter has made me what I’m today. And it is the go-to thing in my life. People connect with me and laugh. That’s why laughter has a lot of importance in my life. Its value has increased since I got married. When my wife smiles, it gives me immense pleasure. When people laugh, I feel they just live in that moment. Laughter is medicine and meditation in a way. There are a lot of things, which even today when we think about it, make us laugh. I still laugh when I think of the day when I got married. Like I’m married now(laughs). Also, there is one more thing that happens to me while shopping. Recently I went shopping and I asked the shopkeeper if I do not like it then what to do? The shopkeeper said do not remove the tag and you can return it. Later I had a 4-day tour of 4 different events. I forgot to remove the tag and was wearing it with the tag still on! When I came back home my wife told me that you attended all the events wearing it with the tag. I still laugh thinking about it. Also, I laugh when I think about my wife roasting me on stage in front of so many people. So, in my life, there are a lot of things that make me laugh but this is the recent one.
Hemant Chaddha: My funniest memory hands down is the one I am sharing here. This happened at Big Fun Centre and it has obstacle courses designed along the lines of wipeout. One such obstacle was where I had to stand on a platform and there was a giant sweeper in the centre that rotates and it has 2 arms/tubes, 1 high that we need to duck under to avoid falling, the other low that needs to be jumped over. Standing there, I thought it was easy to just jump and duck and maintain this pattern. I felt like a ninja. The first arm that came towards me was the one I had to jump over. I jumped but I think I miscalculated the height and I tripped and was smacked off the platform. This happened so fast and was so funny that I couldn’t stand up. I have this on camera and believe me every time I look at the video, it has me in splits. I just sat there laughing and crying at the same time. Oh God! I can’t express in words how crazy it was. They don’t say laughter is the best medicine for nothing, it’s a fact. What would be our life without the small wonders and joy that bring a smile and laughter to our face? Each and every moment becomes more memorable. So stay positive and always laugh out loud!
Shivani Gosain: Few funny memories still make me laugh. One of the funniest incidents I remember was from my school days. I was in a girls’ school and I was a badminton player. Once we went for a badminton tournament and in the break, I came outside. I was sitting at the bus stop outside school and was just relaxing and chit-chatting with a few team members and we saw one over smart dude was crossing the road and looking at us. We were all girls. Suddenly, he changed his style and attitude and started walking with an extra attitude. I was shy and tomboyish at that time and just got irritated and looked at that guy and whistled. God knows what made me do that! That dude got so nervous, never expected and ran away. That was the funniest walk that we all burst out laughing. Laughter reduces stress and is the best medicine for anybody. One should never leave an opportunity to laugh. I love to be around people who make me laugh in any situation. I laugh at myself when I do anything funny stupid things in life. The worst is that I laugh when I’m supposed to be very serious but I laugh. And laughter is contagious and spreads health and positivity
Ginnie Virdi: When my daughter was one year old, I was going for her vaccination and was really in a rush. When I went and sat in the car, I suddenly realised that I forgot to get my daughter with me. That was the funniest incident that happened. For me, Laughter is the best medicine in our lives as we all are going through so many things. Laughter is all we have so no matter what we are all going through we should take out time for laughter and small happiness as it gives our life a big value.
Arun Mandola: Before the lockdown, I went to Imagicaa and that was one of the most happening outin8gs in my life. My friend went inside the water swing capsule and did not come outside till 2- 3 mins and everyone was waiting for their turn. Suddenly, I saw he was stopped between the swing. When he came outside, he was shivering and at that time I couldn’t control my laughter. Sometimes people don’t show their fear but when they try such rides then the fear is visible.
